Bryan is a critically-acclaimed and award winning filmmaker and author. He began filmmaking and photography in grade school. "My parents got me a Kodak Instamatic to shoot my very first pictures. When I was a junior in High School I got a Mamiya 35mm camera that I used throughout high school. Eventually I moved on to a Nikon FM and FM2 as well as a Yashika-24, all of which I still have today."
Artist Chuck Close said, "It's the easiest medium in which to be competent. Anybody with a point and shoot camera can take a competent picture. But it's the hardest medium to express some kind of personal vision because there is no touch, there is no hand, there is no physicality. The fact that you can have recognizable authorship means they really have done something, because it's a damn hard thing to do."
Focal Point 74/24 is a series of small photographs in large mats forcing the eye to concentrate on the image directly in front of the viewer. The 74/24 references the fact that I took these photos 50 years ago in 1974 and never shared or printed. I recently located these negatives and am now presenting them for the first time.
